How is it Managed?
Each Co-Owner holds a share in the yacht, defined by a Co-Ownership agreement. This agreement outlines crucial details such as each owner’s usage rights, legal and financial responsibilities and agreed codes of conduct.
It also addresses decision-making processes, scheduling, dispute resolution, and the procedure for selling or transferring ownership stakes.
SwissClub Marine facilitates the setting up of this Co-Ownership agreement followed by full management of the yacht and the Co-Ownership arrangement through clear communication ensuring cooperation among owners to ensure a smooth, enjoyable experience for all.

Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to understand Co-Ownership: how it works, what you own, and what it costs.
What exactly is SwissClub Marine Co-Ownership?
It is legal, shared ownership of a premium Boat or Yacht. You buy a registered share, typically 1/8 though other share options are available, and become a legal co-owner of the vessel alongside the other owners. It is not a timeshare and not a charter scheme. You own an asset, you do not rent access to one.
How is this different from a timeshare?
A timeshare sells you the right to use something for a block of time. You never own the asset. With SwissClub you hold a real ownership share in the Boat itself, under a defined legal structure. When the Boat is sold at the end of the term, you receive your share of the proceeds. A timeshare gives you time. Co-Ownership gives you ownership.
What do I actually own?
A legal share of the vessel, typically 1/8 though other options are available, held through a clearly defined ownership structure. That share is an asset you can sell. It entitles you to guaranteed private-use weeks each year and to a proportional share of the sale proceeds when the Boat is sold.
How many owners share one Boat, and how big is a share?
The standard structure is eight owners per Boat, each holding a 1/8 share, though other share options are available depending on the group of interested parties. You can also buy more than one share if you want more time on the water and a larger stake.
How many weeks can I use the Boat each year?
A 1/8 share gives you six private-use weeks per year: three in the winter season from November to April, and three in the summer season from May to October. Weeks are scheduled in advance so you can plan around them.
How is scheduling kept fair between owners?
Through a transparent rotation planned in advance. All owners receive the same guaranteed weeks per year, with summer and winter dates rotated over time so no one is locked into the least desirable weeks.
What does it cost?
There are two parts: a one-time purchase of your share, and your equal portion of the annual running costs. Your share price depends on the Boat, and a 1/8 share is a fraction of the full vessel price. Running costs are split equally among the owners, so you never carry the whole year alone. For exact figures on a specific model, book a consultation and we will give you a full breakdown.
What is included in the running costs?
Everything needed to keep the Boat ready and looked after: berthing and marina fees, insurance, maintenance and servicing, cleaning and sanitisation, licensing, winterisation and professional management. All shared equally across the owners.
Who manages the Boat?
SwissClub Marine does. We handle scheduling, cleaning, maintenance, licensing, insurance, berthing, skippers and crew, dry docking, winterisation and repairs. It is a turnkey service. You show up for your weeks and we take care of the rest.
Do I need a boating licence or experience?
What happens after eight years?
The Boat is sold and the proceeds are distributed equally among the owners. The ownership term has a clear, planned exit from the start, so you know the horizon before you join.
Can I sell my share before the term is up?
Yes. Your share is an asset you can sell at any time before the end of the term, which gives you flexibility if your plans change.
What about depreciation?
A sole owner carries 100% of the value drop. As a co-owner your exposure is limited to your share, and the planned end-of-term sale spreads that risk across all owners.
Is Co-Ownership really cheaper than buying outright?
For most people, yes. A private Boat sits unused most of the year while the costs keep running. With Co-Ownership you buy a fraction of the Boat and pay a fraction of the annual costs, while still getting guaranteed time on the water. You stop paying for the weeks you were never going to use.
How is this different from chartering or renting?
Renting is a recurring expense with nothing to show for it afterwards. Co-Ownership gives you guaranteed weeks every year, a Boat you know, owner-level treatment, and a real stake with a share of the resale. You get access and equity, not just access.
Can I use the Boat in winter, or is Cyprus only a summer destination?
Cyprus boating is not limited to summer. The off-season is shorter than most people assume, and your weeks include winter time. SwissClub also runs a winterisation programme so the Boat is cared for and usable across more of the year.
Which Boats and Yachts can I co-own?
A range of premium brands including Saxdor, Marex, XO, Zeelander, Amer and Northman, from compact day Boats to larger Yachts. The right model depends on how you plan to use it, and we can match you during a consultation.
How do I get started?
Book a private consultation. We will walk you through the available Boats, the share structure, your usage weeks, the full cost breakdown and the legal framework, so you have everything you need before you decide.
